On Tuesday, October 16, 2018, the Strauss Center and Clements Center, along with the John Quincy Adams Society, will welcome Joshua Shifrinson, Assistant Professor of International Relations with the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, for a talk on his recently released book, Rising Titans, Fallings Giants: How Great Powers Exploit Power Shifts.
The LBJ Washington Center will host two Exemplars in Policymaking: Denise Grant and Frank Raines.
Grant is the former head of the Washington, DC office of international recruiting firm Russell Reynolds Associates and the founder of Overlook Strategies. Raines is the former director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) within the Executive Office of the President (EOP).

EVENING KEYNOTE
This semester's special keynote will be delivered by author and journalist Ari Berman. Mr. Berman will discuss the history and contemporary relevance of voting rights; efforts to combat voter suppression in the wake of Shelby v. Holder; gerrymandering; and the upcoming 2018 midterm congressional elections.
LUNCHTIME TALK
CSRD Founding Director Dr. Peniel E. Joseph and voting rights expert Ari Berman will discuss his most recent book, Give Us the Ballot: The Modern Struggle for Voting Rights in America.
On Thursday, October 21, 2018, the Clements Center will welcome Danielle Pletka, Senior Vice President for Foreign and Defense Policy Studies, American Enterprise Institute, for her talk "Middle East Realignment and Israel."
On Wednesday, October 10, 2018, the Strauss Center will welcome Dr. Robert Kadlec, Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to give a talk on the "Evolution of Biodefense Policy." The talk is part of the Strauss Center's Brumley Speaker Series.
