Policy on the Rocks

Policy on the Rocks is a GPAC-sponsored program stemming from concerns from students and faculty that there are not many opportunities to get to learn from each other informally. In a nod to the podcast War on the Rocks, this informal talk gives all LBJ students an opportunity to chat with policy practitioners about their experiences in the field. Our October host, Brad Englert, is the founder of the Brad Englert Advisory and is an author, advisor, and technologist.

We want to both MPAff and MGPS students to be interested in Policy on the Rocks topics. Brad Englert is an LBJ alumnus (class of '84) who continues to improve the Austin community. Brad worked for Accenture for 22 years and served as the Chief Information Officer at the University of Texas at Austin for 7 years. During Brad’s career with Accenture, a global management consulting and technology services firm, he worked in a variety of IT leadership and operational roles for large, complex institutions of higher education, state governments, and commercial organizations. As CIO at UT, Brad transitioned UT to a modern, cloud-based Learning Management System and launched the UT-branded Gmail for students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Come join us at Thunderbird Coffee on Manor from 12:15-1:30 pm on Tuesday, October 30. Get to know a local policy practitioner in an informal setting!
