Before joining the University of Texas at Austin to teach, Amy helped make internet platforms like Instagram and Facebook safer for over 3.5 billion people worldwide. At Meta, she led global teams fighting online harm. She later built and led safety teams at two high-growth startups. Amy has expertise in risk management, online platform policy, and complex societal problems like political misinformation.
In the public sector, Amy served as policy aide and speechwriter across two government agencies for Texas’ first Latina Secretary of State, Hope Andrade. Her policy focus was economic and workforce development.
Today, Amy is a member of the Integrity Institute, a nonprofit collective of professionals dedicated to safeguarding the social internet. She consults with tech companies on trust and safety problems and sits on the advisory board for Yardstik.
