James Steinberg served as dean of the LBJ School from 2006 to 2009, when he was appointed U.S. deputy secretary of state on Jan. 29, 2009. Currently he is a University Professor of Social Science, International Affairs and Law at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. He served as dean of the Maxwell School from 2011 to 2016.
