NASCAR does the right thing on Confederate flag ban

On June 10, after issuing an earlier statement in support of racial justice that did not address the flag, NASCAR said it is banning the flying of Confederate flags at its races. "Banning Confederate flags at all NASCAR events is both symbolically and substantively important. It's of a piece with a movement nationwide to take a new stand about Confederate monuments and statues celebrating the legacy of racists," writes LBJ's Peniel Joseph.
