MLK Day Event – Poverty and Social Justice: Then and Now

Peniel Joseph, the Founding Director of the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy, will moderate the discussion. Panelists, listed below, are members of Austin Mayor Steve Adler’s Task Force on Institutional Racism and Systemic Inequities and will engage with us on issues relevant to both MLK’s legacy and our Austin community:

— Eric Tang, Faculty in UT’s Center for Asian American Studies, Associate Professor in the African and African Diaspora Studies Department

— Virginia Cumberbatch, Director, Community Engagement Center at the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (MPAff ’16)
