Research Design
This element of the Ph.D. core curriculum is designed to launch students on the path to develop their required Qualifying Paper that will be due shortly after completing their second year in the program. Key elements of the course will include: Identifying and defining a scholarly research topic; articulating research questions; understanding formal causal thinking; qualitative and quantitative methods; marshaling appropriate evidence to support the research question; structuring a scholarly research article; the journal publication process; and much more. Coordinated by the instructor of record, teams of faculty members will co-teach key modules of the course.
