The Prison and Jail Innovation Lab (PJIL) at the LBJ School of Public Affairs will be co-sponsoring an evening of conversation with author Robert Chase, as he discusses his new book, We Are Not Slaves: State Violence, Coerced Labor, and Prisoners' Rights in Postwar America, a history of the prisoners’ rights movement in Texas in the second half of the 20th century told from the vantage point of prisoners themselves.

Talitha LeFlouria, Associate Professor of History and Fellow of the Mastin Gentry White Professorship in Southern History, will introduce Chase.
