Sarah Morningred is a candidate for the Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. A California native, she graduated magna cum laude from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a major in English, minors in Spanish, psychology, linguistics and women's & gender studies, and a certification in teaching English as a second language.
Previously Morningred worked as a communications associate for the Volcker Alliance, a New York City-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering the public sector workforce to solve public problems. She continues to work for the Volcker Alliance part-time from Austin.
Morningred is interested in education and humanitarian policy, especially improving international access to education, promoting educational equity for girls and increasing learning outcomes for English language learners in the U.S. She hopes to find a Policy Apprenticeship in DC working for the State Department, Department of Education or on the committee staff or for a member of Congress serving on a foreign relations or education-focused subcommittee.
