Renewal: A Report from the LBJ School of Public Affairs, 2016–2020

Cover of report — Renewal: The LBJ School 2016–2020

This report summarizes the achievements of the LBJ School of Public Affairs in the five years leading up to its 50th anniversary.

As a result of these efforts, the LBJ School has transformed into a powerhouse—a fitting tribute to President Johnson's legacy and a testament to the creativity and sacrifice of the entire LBJ community. The achievements outlined in this report were possible because of the collective efforts of LBJ staff, faculty, students, and alumni, as well as the support of its benefactors. Their enduring commitment to cultivating the next generation of public policy leaders is reflected throughout these pages. If I had to choose the theme that best encapsulates this period, it would be the power of renewal. We have been intentional about identifying shifts in the landscape that are influencing public policy education, addressing these strategic challenges, and thinking daringly about the future.

On a personal note, I have been honored to serve as dean of this remarkable School. My hope is that we maintain our momentum, continue to build on our progress, and ensure that the LBJ School remains a singular force in public affairs for decades to come. Here's to the next 50 years.
