Nathan Hutson is a Visiting Professor of Urban Studies at the Kyiv School of Economics, an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin at the LBJ School and the School of Architecture, a Research Consultant at the University of North Texas Department of History, and a Fellow of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
 
His specific research areas include transportation planning and cross-border trade integration, with a recent focus on the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities and infrastructure following the war. Recent publications include “The Silk Road After Ukraine: A New Vision for Eurasian Integration”, “A Vision for Mariupol: The Easternmost Gateway of Europe”, and the forthcoming “Protests Beyond the Plaza: Everyday Spaces, Urban Morphologies, and Strategies.”
