In Memory of Bob Nichols

Dear LBJ Community,

I am sorry to share that our community lost a longtime colleague on March 29.

Robert Eugene “Bob” Nichols joined the Governor’s Center for Management Development in 2003 after a distinguished 33-year career in the U.S. Coast Guard. Bob was an integral part of the Governor’s Center’s programming for 30 years, providing logistical support for scores of programs over the decades. Hundreds of public sector leaders who participated in Governor's Center programs benefited from Bob’s attention to detail and commitment to client service.

As a colleague, Bob was unfailingly kind and positive. His signature valediction—“have a magical day”—exemplifies the way he lived his life. Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra, and his family members and friends.

Please feel welcome to share thoughts and remembrances about Bob on this memorial page. We will be planting a tree in Bob’s memory. If you would like to join me in a gesture, a few are suggested on Bob’s obituary page.

Sincerely,

JR DeShazo
