This fall, to celebrate the graduate school's 50th anniversary, officials at the University of Texas have organized a series of panel discussions with movers and shakers known for their peripheral vision. In a virtual event taking place Oct. 5 and Oct. 12 that will be free and open to the public, speakers will include Democratic politician and voting rights activist Stacey Abrams — an alumna of the school; Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Co-Chair Melinda Gates; former Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg; JPMorgan Chase Chairman Jamie Dimon; and Adm. Bill McRaven, a former chancellor of the UT system who is now a professor of national security at the LBJ School.
