Hospitals: Fighting COVID-19 on the Frontlines

Hospitals have been the epicenter for fighting the coronavirus since its arrival on U.S. shores in early 2020. Although they prepare and train their staffs to fight such outbreaks, the magnitude of this global pandemic has pushed the capabilities of many hospitals to access critically needed supplies like PPE, ventilators and more — and to care for the sickest of the virus victims. Peter McCanna (MPAff '86), president of Baylor Scott & White Health, joined LBJ School Dean Angela Evans to discuss how hospitals and health care facilities have coped to these unprecedented pressures and how they are adapting their operations and services to help mitigate challenges they will face in future public health emergencies.
