MOXY is a new civic engagement platform created by LBJ school alumnus Cesar Melgoza (MPAff '86). It's a nonpartisan social ecosystem designed to empower the average citizen to become better informed and civically engaged.

Melgoza recently talked to Rachel Ciullo, associate director of development and alumni relations, about the platform and what users can gain from it:

Designed to be used by both citizens and politicians, the platform takes news and data on elections, bills and representatives and puts them all in one easily accessible place. Users can access MOXY either via app or web browser, and can customize their feeds to follow their representatives and topics of interest. Additionally, with features like live streams, forums and surveys, politicians can interact with their constituents directly.

Going into the 2020 election, MOXY had several thousand civilian users — and now it offers a free subscription as well as the option to purchase Premium and Power subscriptions, which have added features.

The first 50 LBJ Alums who request a Power subscription by emailing info@moxy.vip will be granted a one-year subscription free of charge (currently priced at $150) — the Power user subscription enables a personalized multimedia channel which includes live streaming, a forum, a podcast series, group chats and nationwide access to elected officials and legislation at both national and state levels.
