Jalaina Douglas is a candidate for the Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. She is a magna cum laude graduate in sociology as an undergraduate at Texas Tech University.
While earning her degree, Douglas served as the political action committee delegate on the Big XII Council for Black Student Government, which developed her interest in political advocacy for Black people. After finishing her undergraduate studies, Douglas completed an internship with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, based in Washington DC.
Douglas is currently a graduate assistant for the Leadership Program at the McCombs School of Business.
Her policy interests include racial equity policy, particularly in the context of reparations, criminal justice and civil rights. Douglas hopes to find a Policy Apprenticeship in DC focused on issues of equity at an advocacy organization or on the Hill, working with the House Ethics Committee or similar.
