It is our great pleasure to announce that Barbara Kufiadan will be our LBJ School Class of 2021 Student Commencement Speaker! She will be sharing the stage with Ibram X. Kendi, our Commencement Keynote Speaker.

Barbara is a graduating Master of Public Affairs student specializing in labor and human relations policy. She is particularly passionate about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in both the public and private sector. She has had experience evaluating these practices through professional experiences, field research and personal student advocacy at her previous institution, the University of Utah. Ultimately, she intends to pursue a career where she can utilize her passion for DEI to foster more opportunities, healthy work and life experiences, and bring awareness to the injustices and struggles of marginalized communities.

"This moment is so special as we all worked hard to get here. I can’t wait to share highlights of our experience and celebrate us!" — Barbara Kufiadan (MPAff '21)

During her two years of study at the LBJ School, she has contributed to our community through her work on the LBJ Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Student-Faculty Committee, the Policy Alliance for Communities of Color, and as a Dean's Search Committee student representative.

"I'm so grateful to have been chosen by our graduating class," she said. "This moment is so special as we all worked hard to get here. I can’t wait to share highlights of our experience and celebrate us!"

Those who know Barbara know that her influence at the LBJ School will be long-lasting. We know she will move on to do great things "in the arena." We look forward to her statements at the LBJ commencement ceremony as she closes out this chapter with us!
