On Wednesday, April 10, 2019, the Clements Center and the University of Texas History Department will welcome Michael Cotey Morgan, Associate Professor of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, for a talk on his recently published book, The Final Act: The Helsinki Accords and the Transformation of the Cold War, at the University of Texas at Austin.
Michael Cotey Morgan is associate professor of history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His first book, The Final Act: The Helsinki Accords and the Transformation of the Cold War (Princeton University Press, 2018), examines the origins and consequences of the 1975 Helsinki Final Act, the most ambitious diplomatic undertaking of the Cold War and a watershed in the development of human rights. At UNC, he teaches courses on the history of diplomacy and international politics, the Cold War, and the history of human rights. Before moving to UNC, he taught at the US Naval War College and the University of Toronto, where he was the inaugural holder of the Raymond Pryke Chair.
