POLITICS AND PROCESS

This course will introduce students to research on political representation in policy design, development, and implementation. How do we define representation? And what does it mean to have a government that is representative of the public? We will consider these questions alongside how specific individual characteristics shape both policy output and how citizens perceive those policies. The class will mostly cover American politics, though we will touch on research in comparative contexts.
