Government and Global Broadcasting

This course will focus on the interplay between government-funded strategic broadcasting and the practice of fact-based journalism by examining the role Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the Voice of America, BBC, and other international broadcasting played during and after the Cold War. In addition, we will study the challenges international broadcasters face today, including the impact of social media. Students will have the opportunity to analyze in-depth a critical aspect of post-WWII broadcasting as well gain a deeper understanding of today’s global broadcasting.

This course is cross-listed from the School of Journalism. Journalism is the home department.
