EVENING KEYNOTE

This semester's special keynote will be delivered by author and journalist Ari Berman.  Mr. Berman will discuss the history and contemporary relevance of voting rights; efforts to combat voter suppression in the wake of Shelby v. Holder; gerrymandering; and the upcoming 2018 midterm congressional elections.

Mr. Berman is an investigative journalist, political correspondent, voting rights expert, author of Give Us the Ballot: The Modern Struggle for Voting Rights in America and Herding Donkeys: The Fight to Rebuild the Democratic Party and Reshape American Politics, senior reporter at Mother Jones, Reporting Fellow at The Nation Institute, and winner of a 2017 Izzy Award for outstanding achievement in independent media.
