Cynthia Kay Niemeyer | LBJ School of Public Affairs | The University of Texas at Austin

Cynthia Kay Niemeyer is a candidate for the Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. She earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M, where she graduated magna cum laude. She is also a licensed professional civil engineer in Texas.

Previously Niemeyer worked at Chevron as a facilities engineer, which encouraged her interest in federal energy policy, particularly in the context of advocating for the oil and gas industry through the energy transition while championing a green diversification of energy resources.

At LBJ, Niemeyer is involved with the UT Energy Symposium through the Energy Institute and will study how policy impacts energy law.

Niemeyer hopes to find a Policy Apprenticeship in DC focused on energy policy working for the minority in either the Energy & Commerce Committee in the House, Energy & Natural Resources Committee in the Senate, or for a legislative member with a strong energy interest.
