Please join the Clements Center for National Security on Tuesday, January 30th for a talk with Ionut Popescu on his new book Emergent Strategy and Grand Strategy: How American Presidents Succeed in Foreign Policy. Ionut is a former Clements Center Postdoctoral Fellow and currently is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Texas State University. This event, which will be held at the College of Liberal Arts Glickman Center (CLA 1.302B) at 12:30pm, is free and open to the public.
Dr. Ionut Popescu received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University in the fall of 2013, with a primary specialization in International Relations and a secondary one in American Politics. Prior to joining Texas State, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Clements Center for National Security at the University of Texas at Austin. A scholar of modern American foreign policy and grand strategy, Dr. Popescu is the author of Emergent Strategy and Grand Strategy: How American Presidents Succeed in Foreign Policy (Johns Hopkins University Press, November 2017). His articles appeared in the Journal of Strategic Studies, Contemporary Security Policy, Orbis, Parameters, The Hill, Joint Force Quarterly, Armed Forces Journal and War On The Rocks. His teaching interests include courses on international relations theory, international security, strategy and conflict, and American foreign policy and national security.
