Event Status
Scheduled

This event brings together Dr. Leonard N. Moore, Interim Vice President of the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement, and Dr. Peniel E. Joseph, Founding Director of the CSRD, to discuss Race, Democracy, and Sport 1968-2018. Fifty years after Olympic sprinters set the world on fire with raised fists in Mexico City, how much has changed? Why do athletics continue to offer a platform for social justice protest and how does this impact larger democratic institutions in American society? Drs. Moore and Joseph, esteemed historians who are deeply engaged with public history and policy issues, will engage in a wide-ranging conversation that will include Q & A.
