Advanced Methods for Global Policy Studies

This course will provide a foundation for rigorous quantitative analysis of global policies based in the principles of economic theory.  It is designed for MGPS students seeking additional quantitative training after PA397G.  Students will apply quantitative methods using national, community, and household data sets related to international governance, economic development, public health, human capital, natural resources, and other global policy topics.  Instruction will focus on the theory and application of methods such as advanced regression analysis, principal components and factor analysis, decision analysis, and valuation for social cost-benefit analysis.  Assignments will include problem sets, exams, and applied analytical projects. 

Prerequisites:  Analytic Methods (PA397 or PA397G) AND Microeconomics (PA 393G or PA 393K) AND familiarity with calculus and STATA statistical software.
