A bipartisan conversation about paid media between James Aldrete, President of MAP (Message, Audience, Presentation) Wins and former member of President Obama’s Media Team, and Joey Parr, Partner and Creative Director at Murphy, Nasica & Associates, LBJ Alum, and former Chief of Staff in the Texas House. Joey Parr- As Partner and Creative Director of Murphy Nasica & Associates (MNA), Joey Parr oversees media and advertising at the largest and winningest political consulting firm in Texas – helping his agency achieve a rare 80% win-rate.  In Texas, Parr has led the creative and media strategy for nearly one-third of Texas House Republican Caucus members’ campaigns. He secured victories in dozens of Texas Legislative, Congressional, and Mayoral races – including historic GOP wins in Hispanic South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley. In 2022, Parr was named “40 Under 40” by the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC). His advertising has garnered 15 national awards – including 5 coveted Pollies from the AAPC. His awards include “Best TV Ad for a State Legislative Race,” “Best Online Political Video,” and “Best Villain in a TV Ad” in America.

James Aldrete- James Aldrete is President of MAP Political Communications, a 100% Hispanic-owned agency recognized nationally as a leader in engaging the Latino electorate and
diversifying the coalition behind today’s progressive
victories. A veteran of presidential campaigns (Obama
’08, ’12, Hillary ’16, and Bloomberg ’20), Aldrete has worked
in battleground states across the nation and with diverse
Latino communities. In Nevada, he was a member of
the media team that elected Catherine Cortez Masto,
the nation’s first Latina US senator. Aldrete’s work also
extends to organizations, including AFL-CIO, Reproductive Freedom for All, and Everytown for Gun Safety, among others, helping them to create strategies to welcome and engage diverse Hispanic communities to take an active part in defining the policies that shape our world. Aldrete received his Master’s in Speech Communication from the University of Texas at Austin, and early in his career served on the Ann Richards for Governor campaign, and with the consulting firms of Gold Communications and Public Strategies, Inc. A firm believer that elections are only one tool to create the change we seek, Aldrete has volunteered his time as a long-time board member of the ACLU of Texas, Austin PBS, and as Chair of Texas Freedom Network, Every Texan, and the Planned Parenthood affiliate in Austin. Aldrete currently Chairs the Resource Council for the Voces Oral History Center at the University of Texas at Austin, chronicling the Latino/a experience in the United States.
