Since the inaugural class in 2020, The LBJ Women’s Campaign School (LBJWCS) has trained nearly 250 leaders as candidates and campaign managers. Nine LBJWCS Alumni are on the ballot in 2024. The Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership at Texas Woman’s University is providing 30 full-tuition LBJWCS scholarships to knock down socioeconomic barriers for Texas women in politics.

The LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin is excited to announce two new speaker series designed to strengthen democracy and develop public leaders.

The new classroom will enhance learning environments for students and educators.

Two new programs focused on developing effective policy leaders will kick off this spring at the LBJ Washington Center, the LBJ School’s presence in Washington DC. The DC Foreign Policy Semester and The Patman Center Maymester programs offer students unparalleled exposure to how policy is created at the federal level.

The LBJ School and the Bond Dealers of America brought together more than 150 experts across infrastructure, public finance, government and academia to discuss the future of energy and water, and the role of government and the financial sector to realize the needed investment.

A cohort of graduate students from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas embarked on a transformative journey, blending academic rigor with hands-on policy apprenticeships in Washington DC. The students, who graduated on Saturday, reflect on their time at LBJ with gratitude for a supportive community, impactful policy work, and a wealth of experiences that will undoubtedly shape their futures in public service.

Through the DC Concentration, Will Barrett (MGPS-DC ) found himself in the rooms where foreign policy happens. He took LBJ classes at night and worked by day, notably contributing to subnational diplomacy goals at Foreign Policy for America and gaining insights into federal government operations at the Department of State’s European and Eurasian Bureau. He graduates on Dec. 9 with a readiness to change the world.

Ambassador Larry André (ret), with a distinguished 38-year career in the federal government, has been inducted into the American Academy of Diplomacy.

The Prison and Jail Innovation Lab at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas is proud to introduce a groundbreaking national clearinghouse designed to significantly change the dialogue on prison oversight.

Veteran's Day Student Spotlight: Amy Abbott, a student veteran from Houston, Texas, is nearing graduation from the LBJ Women’s Campaign School on November 18. With over 20 years of military service, she transitioned from the Army to become an Air Force officer, contributing to rule of law in Afghanistan and antiterrorism campaigns in Somalia. Amy's attendance at the LBJ Women's Campaign School reflects her belief in the unifying power of voices and the importance of women's representation in politics.
