Marie Newhouse is a visiting professor at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, a senior fellow at the Civitas Institute, and an associate professor in law, philosophy, and public policy at the University of Surrey. She writes about institutional and professional ethics, with a current focus on academic freedom, free speech, and civil discourse. She also writes about more foundational topics on Kantian legal and political philosophy. Professor Newhouse holds a J.D. from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in public policy from Harvard University. Prior to her academic career, she worked as a legal and policy analyst at the Cato Institute and as a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute for Policy Studies.
