Evan Smith, co-founder and former CEO of The Texas Tribune and now a Professor of Practice, is once again teaching a class called The Politics and Issues of the Moment. Designed for LBJ students, the class typically features some of the most powerful and celebrated names in politics and policy as guests. These events are all semester long on Mondays from 4-5pm.

- January 27: State Senator Mayes Middleton (R-Houston)
- February 3: State Representative John Bucy III (D-Austin), State Representative Sheryl Cole (D-Austin), and State Representative Gina Hinojosa (D-Austin)
- February 10: State Representative Gene Wu (D-Houston)
- February 17: State Representative Trent Ashby (R-Lufkin)
- February 24: Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis
- March 3: State Senator Nathan Johnson (D-Dallas)
- March 10: Nathan Hecht and Wallace Jefferson, former Chief Justices of the Texas Supreme Court
