The health of the students, faculty, staff of The University of Texas at Austin — and visitors to the campus — is our primary goal, and we must protect all members of the UT family. We at the LBJ School pledge to Protect Texas Together.

UT's plan provides a framework for the fall designed to accommodate the dynamic environment we are facing and enable us to adapt to changes in the prevalence of COVID-19 in Austin and throughout Texas. The university’s leaders are aware that things are changing every day.

While there remains a great deal of uncertainty as we carry forward our vital learning, teaching and research missions during these difficult times, the LBJ School and UT are committed to establishing safety measures that aim to minimize COVID-19 risk among students, faculty and staff. Namely:

  • Wash your hands
  • Wear a mask
  • Maintain your distance from others
  • Screen yourself for symptoms.
  • If you have COVID-19 symptoms or feel sick, stay home.
  • Remember to contact the University Health Services or UT Health Austin if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and would like to get tested.

We encourage you to download the Protect Texas Together app, which includes a symptom survey to help users decide whether to come to campus or stay home, log rooms visited and more — which help the university with contact tracing.

UT will update the Protect Texas Together site with local, state and federal guidance; UT guidelines for faculty, staff and students; and UT's plans for campus operations, health and wellness and academics. The university also tracks case numbers via its COVID-19 dashboard, which shows information about significant clusters.
