This course will improve the way you communicate.
You will write legislative testimony, talking points, memoranda, and create messaging specifically for the media as well as other outlets. You will deliver oral remarks, including testimony and media interviews, in mock hearing and interview formats.
You’ll be put to the test each class to become better at telling the story you need to tell.
Each semester, work will revolve around one major theme. Given that we are in the middle of an election year, fall semester will focus the lens on political campaigns and the way they seek to manipulate and influence.
Guest speakers from the policy world as well as politics and media will share their insights and take questions from you.
At the end of this class, you will have dealt with a significant amount of the policy communications that you will face in the future and be more proficient in using them to meet your policy goals.
