Managing Overseas Operations
THIS COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT BY GREG ENGLE. THIS COURSE WILL COUNT AS AN ADVANCED PUBLIC MANAGEMENT COURSE.    Managing Overseas Operations Ambassador Gregory W. Engle (Ret.)   Course Objective: To understand the factors that affect managing a government, international or non-profit organization in a foreign country and develop the skills necessary to manage these organizations.       Course Description: Through lectures, readings, guest speakers, case studies and classroom exercises, students will examine the unique aspects of managing a governmental, international or non-profit organization in a foreign country.  They will develop an understanding of external factors that affect an organization’s operations: the host government, the local security situation, the economy and local availability of resources, including human resources, etc.  They will also examine internal management functions affected by operating in a foreign location: human resource management, financial and budget operations, administrative services for expatriate staff, etc.    Required Text:   Engle, Gregory W. and Tibor P.
