Topics for these policy seminars have included environmental and natural resources policy, health-service delivery policy, social welfare policy, transportation policy, science and technology policy, international affairs, national security, urban and regional growth policy, and political campaigns.
This course is a department-led international study abroad opportunity taught May 16 through June 4, 2014, at the Xiamen University of Technology (XMUT), Xiamen, China.
This course is open to graduate students in the Department of Environmental Engineering in Xiamen University of Technology who are fluent in English. This course addresses major topics and methodological approaches in the field of global environmental health. It compares the approaches to studying and managing environmental health in China and North America. Graduate students are expected to participate in the lecture and fieldwork course components of the class, although their grade will be determined primarily from the quality of their research papers.
Class Participants: This course is offered to graduate students at The University of Texas at Austin through the UT International Office. Also participating will be graduate students from the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and from XMUT. There will be space for between 10 and 20 graduate students from UT/Austin.
Instructors: The class will be taught jointly by faculty members from XMUT, the China partner university and The University of Texas at Austin. David Eaton will be responsible for grading any student from The University of Texas at Austin and the University of Regina.
