Richard Guzman is a candidate for the Master of Public Affairs (DC Concentration) at the LBJ School. He is a summa cum laude graduate in political science from the University of New Mexico.
Prior to graduate school, Guzman served as a sniper in the U.S. Army. At LBJ, he is combining his military and academic experiences to focus on defense policy.
Guzman is interested in armed forces and diplomacy, particularly in the context of unit readiness and security cooperation. He hopes to find a policy apprenticeship in DC focused on analyzing security and military policies, working with either an executive branch agency or nonprofit research organization.
