The University of Texas at Austin, LBJ School of Public Affairs will be funded to complete four research projects in an attempt to provide some guidance for grant proposals, policymakers, rule drafters and others on a number of issues, including the value and impact of certain kinds of coursework, field experience and alternative approaches to teacher preparation and college success. The findings will help support funding, steer Texas Education/State Board of Educator Quality teacher preparation rule changes and THECB policy decisions. These efforts will further address Goal 1: Close the Gap in Participation—recruit, prepare and retain additional well qualified educators for elementary and secondary schools and Goal 2: Close the Gap in Success for students in the state plan.
