The LBJ School is a proud sponsor of the 2019 Texas Tribune Festival, an annual buzzworthy event on politics and public policy in the heart of downtown Austin. The 2019 festival, which will take place in downtown Austin Sept. 26–28, will include panels and keynotes with leading policymakers including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice.

Former senior counterterrorism officials Nick Rasmussen and Michele Malvesti join UT

Nicholas "Nick" Rasmussen, the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), and Dr. Michele Malvesti, a scholar and former White House counterterrorism adviser, will teach and advise students at the University of Texas at Austin. Rasmussen and Malvesti will hold joint appointments as Senior National Security Fellows at UT's Strauss Center for International Security and Law, Clements Center for National Security and the Intelligence Studies Project. The centers and their joint initiative are affiliated with the LBJ School of Public Affairs.

The LBJ School of Public Affairs co-sponsored the fourth annual Texas National Security Forum at The University of Texas at Austin. Presented by the Intelligence Studies Project, the Robert Strauss Center for International Security and Law, and the Clements Center for National Security, “Alliances and Partnerships in American National Security” drew leading experts on defense, intelligence, diplomacy and international financial policy and featured CIA Director Mike Pompeo as keynote speaker.
