Stacey Abrams (MPAff '98) is a voting rights champion and the founder of Fair Fight. She served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2007 to 2017, serving as minority leader from 2011 to 2017. In 2018, she was the first Black woman in U.S. history to become a major party's gubernatorial nominee and won more votes than any other Democrat in Georgia's history.

Driven by inflation, high demand, rising property taxes, and more, housing affordability has become a growing crisis in Texas, according to a brief researchers and policy experts from The University of Texas at Austin prepared for the 88th Texas legislature.

Austin City Council voted to name LBJ School Alumnus Jesús Garza (MPAff '77) as interim city manager.

Sheila Olmstead, an environmental economist from The University of Texas at Austin, will look at the economic benefits of controlling water pollution along the Texas Gulf Coast, Puget Sound and Long Island Sound, thanks to a $740,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency.  

Irvin Ashford Jr. is the Chief Community Officer at Comerica Bank and a 1994 graduate of the LBJ School of Public Affairs. In 2022, Ashford was named one of the Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America by Savoy Magazine. 

The LBJ School of Public Affairs announces 16 exceptional new faculty appointments for fall '22 – fall '23. With expertise spanning immigration, voting, public management, national security, survey design and more, these faculty conduct extraordinary research and give students the know-how to change the world.

The LBJ School of Public Affairs filled the Bass Lecture Hall with more than 100 attendees for a January 2023 screening of “The Ants & the Grasshopper,” a documentary co-directed by LBJ Research Professor Raj Patel that tells the story of Anita Chitaya, a Malawian farmer and activist trying to save her home and crops from extreme weather caused by climate change.
