Researchers explore how water quality impacts property values along East, West and South coasts

Sheila Olmstead, an environmental economist from The University of Texas at Austin, will look at the economic benefits of controlling water pollution along the Texas Gulf Coast, Puget Sound and Long Island Sound, thanks to a $740,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency.

Irvin Ashford Jr. is the Chief Community Officer at Comerica Bank and a 1994 graduate of the LBJ School of Public Affairs. In 2022, Ashford was named one of the Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America by Savoy Magazine.

LBJ School Screens Award-Winning Climate Change Documentary

The LBJ School of Public Affairs filled the Bass Lecture Hall with more than 100 attendees for a January 2023 screening of “The Ants & the Grasshopper,” a documentary co-directed by LBJ Research Professor Raj Patel that tells the story of Anita Chitaya, a Malawian farmer and activist trying to save her home and crops from extreme weather caused by climate change.
