LBJ Professor Robert D. Auerbach Speaks at Washington D.C. Financial Symposium "Beyond the Meltdown: Regulatory Reform of the Financial Sector"
AUSTIN, Texas-- Jan. 8, 2009-- LBJ School Professor Robert D. Auerbach discussed topics from his book Deception and Abuse at the Fed: Henry B. Gonzalez Battles Alan Greenspan’s Bank (University of Texas Press, 2008) at an all-day symposium titled “Beyond the Meltdown: regulatory Reform of the Financial Sector” which took January 9th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Auerbach’s presentation was scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
The symposium explored the dual challenges created by the current economic crisis, including the ongoing tasks of restoring confidence, stability and liquidity to the markets and the broader economy, and the work of forging a new and robust regulatory framework for Wall Street and the financial system.
