Cindy Brewer, former Director of Business and Financial Services at UT Austin, named new Chief Business Officer for The LBJ School

Cindy Brewer, formerly Director of Business and Financial Services at the University of Texas at Austin, has joined UT's LBJ School of Public Affairs as the School’s Chief Business Officer. In her new role, Brewer will oversee and lead all aspects of the LBJ School's business and administrative operations, including financial, human resources, research administration, building and IT operations.

“Planning and implementing quality, cost-effective administrative services are key to advancing the academic mission of the School,” said LBJ’s interim dean Robert Wilson. “Cindy brings a wealth of experience and expertise in a university setting that make her uniquely qualified to lead this effort in her role as Chief Business Officer. We are delighted to have Cindy as a member of the LBJ community.”

‘This new position provides me with the opportunity to utilize my skills, experience, and knowledge to further the education, research, and civic engagement missions of the school,” said Brewer. “I am very pleased to be at the LBJ School and looking forward to working collaboratively with such a dedicated community of scholars, staff and students.”

In leading the transformation and development of Business and Financial Services, Brewer’s duties included facilitation and implementation of the department’s strategic planning effort and significant efficiency improvements. Prior to that, she worked as the Assistant Director for Business Services, which provided business and administrative services for Facilities Services, Project Management & Construction Services, Technology Resources, and the office of the Senior Associate Vice President for Campus Planning and Facilities Management.

Brewer came to the University of Texas at Austin after a 20-year career in administration at Purdue University, which included leadership roles in business and administrative operations, human resources, and research administration.

Brewer has a MS degree in Higher Education Business and Finance Management from Purdue University and a BS degree in Finance from Ball State University.
