James GalbraithOn December 6, 2012, Professor James Galbraith gave a keynote speech to a congress of the largest German trade union, IG Metall, in Berlin on the theme, "Changing Course for a Good Life." Professor Galbraith spoke on the second day of the three-day meeting; keynotes were delivered on the first day by Nouriel Roubini of New York University, and on the closing day by former President Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva of Brazil.

Galbraith's topic was "Beyond Candide and Cassandra: The Economics We Need for an Age of Crises That Isn't Going to End" and his speech addressed the critical issues of policy and institutions that presently threaten the European Union.
