Welcome to the Writing Lab
LBJ School students can sign up for a consultation to review a course assignment, writing sample, resume, or cover letter. Choose "writing consultation" at the link below.
The Writing Lab offers graduate students enrolled at the LBJ School of Public Affairs individualized assistance at any stage of the writing process. The Center also hosts a series of ongoing seminars on specialized topics.
The Writing Center encourages critical reflection and prepares writers to make effective decisions about their writing.
Hours and Consultations
The Writing Lab has hours available early and late and I can make arrangements to “meet” via phone or Skype. Some hours are reserved for walk-ins and others for pre-scheduled consultations. You can always feel free to email your questions too.
In general, I’ll schedule appointments and take drop-ins during the following hours. Feel free to request an appointment at different times – I’ll do my best to accommodate your schedule.

What to Expect During Your Visit
What can I expect during a drop in visit?
You can ask questions about documentation, grammar, word choice conundrums, and writing process best practices. If you need help getting started or revising a tricky paragraph, or simply want to brainstorm writing strategies, come on by! A drop-in is not the time to get substantive feedback on your writing. Please make an appointment for a consultation.
What can I expect during a consultation?
If you send your document at least 24 hours in advance, you can expect a review of structure, content, and use of language. Documents longer than five pages require more time. If available, please send the corresponding assignment prompt or job posting.
