Valerie Carvajal is a private consultant and the former Director for Executive Programs at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, The University of Texas at Austin. She was responsible for the direction of the Governor’s Executive Development Program (GEDP), the ELITE (Executive Leadership for Information Technology Excellence) program, and other custom executive programs. In her role with the GEDP, she provided executive coaching to participants for personal development planning. Other responsibilities included conducting seminars and executive team training sessions, group facilitation, and organizational consulting. She is a trained mediator and facilitator, and she has presented courses in Facilitation, Meeting Planning, and Teambuilding for the Governor’s Center for Management Development. She has also presented at international conferences alongside her colleagues Dr. Barry Bales, Assistant Dean for Professional Development at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, and Joyce Sparks, Director of the Governor's Center for Management Development. These include the International Coach Federation Conference in Sydney, Australia and the International Society for Performance Improvement Conferences in Vancouver and Boston.
Valerie received a B.A. with a double major in Spanish and Economics from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from St. Edwards University in Austin. She studied Spanish, Culture, and Literature at the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain.
She is certified or licensed by the following organizations: Consulting Psychologists Press for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Personnel Decisions International for the Profilor 360° Assessment Instrument and Success Unlimited Network for her Coaching Certification. Valerie lives in Lakeway with her husband and two children. They enjoy travel and sports, including tennis, wakeboarding, snow skiing, and running.
