Graduate Research Assistants (GRA)

GRA are graduate students who assist faculty/administration with research duties. These positions are most often funded out of research grants.

Teaching Assistants (TA)

TA are graduate students who assist faculty with teaching courses.  Duties may include teaching a class, grading, tutoring, etc.  Most TA positions are occupied by LBJ PhD students. Contact the Assistant for the Associate Dean for Academics to register for English language certification.

Student Technician Employment*

LBJ School Student Technicians perform non-academic duties.  They assist in different areas of the LBJ School performing such functions as IT related tasks; updating information on the website; assisting with school special events planning, setup and other project-based work; reconciling accounts; scanning and cataloguing documents; developing ideas and content for brief feature stories and graphics; etc.

Each year the LBJ School hires students to work part-time during the fall and spring semesters.  The positions are a good way to earn extra money and help to contribute to the mission of the School. Call for applications are sent via the student listserv asking to contact the Dean's Office.

    • After you have been offered a position, please go to the LBJ School Personnel Office to complete employment paperwork and provide identification and work eligibility documents by the third day of work.
  • Pay will vary for each position.

Please note that  tuition remission for graduate research assistants will be required on all grant proposals and contracts, unless the sponsor does not allow tuition remission.
