Events Recap

Career Dinners and Lynda Johnson Robb in Washington, D.C.

Alumni & Student Career Dinner

By Mark Troppe (MPAff '84) Alumni Board Career Committee
On August 14, more than 60 alumni, students, and friends of the LBJ School gathered for a special evening reception and careers discussion at the Darlington House near Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C. Lynda Johnson Robb was our featured speaker; she and former Senator Chuck Robb were on hand to mingle with the crowd.

Ambassador Lloyd Hand, who worked with President Johnson when he was Senate Majority Leader and in the White House, introduced Lynda Robb with great humor and a nice personal touch. Mrs. Robb spoke eloquently about her father's commitment to civil rights, particularly timely as our nation commemorates the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, the Voting Rights Act passage, and other landmark achievements. She also urged all of us to continue our commitment to public service and support for the LBJ School.

Following the reception, most stayed for dinner, with older and younger alums and students grouped by career areas of interest to learn from one another. Mrs. Robb captured the mood of those attending when she suggested that we do this again next summer! Great idea!
